The Wrekin Housing Group (TWHG), on which Saxonby director James Wood sits as a board member, has won the Large Social Landlord of the Year category at the recent, prestigious UK Housing Awards (UKHA) ceremony in London.
Established in 1997 and identified as the most respected of their kind, the UKHA recognise the ingenuity, creativity, passion and results of organisations and individuals across the UK housing sector. Organised by Inside Housing and the Chartered Institute of Housing, this year’s ceremony was hosted by comedian Marcus Brigstocke and attended by 600 people.
Considering its submission the judges, in summing up the win, recognised that TWHG had resisted the trend for mergers and acquisitions. Instead, it has developed into a thriving group of individual companies, every one retaining its own identity and ethos, but all working in a complementary partnership and shared objective to make each other stronger.
A case study of The Cambrian Care-Hotel in Stoke on Trent was used as a demonstration highlighting TWHG’s focus on its strong leadership, great people, and excellent delivery of services, inclusiveness, forward thinking and innovation while ensuring value for money. There was a high calibre of organisations shortlisted in the same category, and to be announced as the winner, recognises the outstanding work of the TWHG partnership.
