"The League was awarded an Outstanding Shropshire Cricket Achievement Award for the contributions it makes to the County cricketing scene which could not have been achieved without Saxonby’s support."
“ I found Saxonby very easy to work with during the pre- contract stages at Bridgwater Street, Whitchurch, where they took a very proactive and flexible approach, leading to a painless and quick route from inception to achieving an actual start on site. Saxonby were very professional whilst being a pleasure to work with, we look forward to working with them again in the future”
“I send my warmest good wishes everyone has worked incredibly hard on the development”
Saxonby’s first apprentice takes on new site manager role
A Shropshire home builder’s first carpentry apprentice has progressed to becoming site manager within just three years, an appointment which has left his grandfather without a garage!
21-year-old Mike Box is the now site manager at Saxonby’s latest project for Severnside Housing in Harlescott, Shrewsbury. On a former location of the housing association’s now disused garages, the new development in Allerton Road will comprise one detached and three semi-detached two-bedroom bungalows, due for completion in early 2017. It is Mike’s first appointment in his new role and in an ironic twist and prior to the site being earmarked for development, one of the garages was previously rented by his grandfather Brian Jones.
Having completed his City & Guilds NVQ level two in carpentry within a year of joining the company, the directors realised Mike’s potential to progress and undertake bigger challenges. James Wood, director at Saxonby, explains: “To start as a carpentry apprentice and progress to site manager with the responsibility that entails is testament to Mike’s work ethic as well as his approach to learning and gaining experience. He is also a good example of our belief in the long-term investment of employees through education and training.
“We all saw the irony when Mike discovered the connection his grandfather had to the site. It’s resulted in some humorous and good spirited banter between them,” he added.
Helen Pugh, business development manager at Severnside Housing, said “We are delighted to hear that our tenant, Mike Box, has been promoted to manage Severnside’s site at Allerton Road and wish him the very best of luck. Severnside is always looking for innovative ways to develop more affordable homes across Shropshire and regenerating the garage site in Allerton Road will enable us to provide four new homes, plus additional car parking for local residents.”
