Saxonby Alistair Stewart

Shrewsbury based homebuilder Saxonby has appointed Alistair Stewart as the company’s new planning consultant.

24-year-old Stewart holds a BA (Hons) and a MPlan (with merit) in urban studies and planning from the University of Sheffield and is a licentiate member of the Royal Town Planning Institute. Prior to joining Saxonby he was a planning graduate with Persimmon Homes in Peterborough and a volunteer planning policy officer at Shropshire Council.  Reporting to directors James Wood and Andrew Copson, he will manage each aspect of the Saxonby Land & Planning Services pre-contract team’s involvement on a site up until development work starts.

Saxonby Land & Planning Services, launched in February 2014 provides a ‘no planning, no fee’ offering to smallholders, landowners and homeowners, in particular where land has been refused planning permission, sometimes for reasons that are not always clearly understood.

Commenting on his appointment, Andrew Copson said: “Alistair is a local young man with bags of enthusiasm and some invaluable experience from his time at Persimmon and Shropshire Council. However, the move to work with Saxonby is a step up from his previous positions.  We have given him complete freedom to shape his role to the benefit of himself, the pre-contract team and the company, with the long-term aim of Alistair becoming the Land & Planning Services director.”

Originally from Shrewsbury, where he was born, raised and went to school, Stewart is delighted to return to his roots. He said: “I’m so pleased to have found an opportunity to move back to Shrewsbury but to work for a company with a reputation such as Saxonby’s is a bonus! It provides excellent customer service, uses local suppliers wherever possible, is active in the community and fosters a positive and supportive team spirit.”
